ExtraTerrestrial

In order to design the best wheels on the planet, we had to design the wheels as a whole component. This meant taking control of the design of every detail.

Weight: 1520Gr.

Spokes: 28+28, D/B, black.

Nipples: ABS threadlock, 2011 alum.

Rims: aerodynamic profile, H 22 x W 23mm.

"Floating Nipples": for perfect spoke alignment.

Rims and hubs finishing: matt black hard anodizing.

Graphics: laser etched.

ET braking surfaces are precisely machined and thicker than Mavic's, that means precise braking performance for longer.

Lacing: we invested more time studing the optimal lacing patterns than many manufacurers of wheels only; for example our front wheel is't laced radially but at 1 crossing, with only 1.5mm longer spokes it offers better reaction to peak stress, which transfers into high reliability and low weight.

hubset

Fully CNC'ed by our ISO 9002 certified workshop, they have extremely high tolerances. Our hubset has such high reliability standards that you could never dream of.

Front: 115Gr.

Rear: 265gr, complete.

Bearings: 5 sealed ball cartridges.

Cassette: Hard anod.7075 T6, tempred steel.

Cassette Exclusives: needle bearings, custom NBR lip seal.

Exclusive needle bearing manages the cassette's heavy loads; strategically positioned it can easily absorb 10 times bigger loads than normal ball bearing systems.

What the magazine say:

Mountain Biking UK:

June'98

VERDICT

"An excellent, and far cheaper, alternative to Mavic's Crossmax wheelset"

Mountain Biker International:

Summer '98

"The impressive poundage was a result of an already light frame being adorned by Extralite's very own Extraterrestrial wheelset (lighter than CrossMax), saddle and seatpost."

TOTAL BIKE:

" TB rating * * * * * "

THE WINNERS

Recommended

"As light and sturdy as the famous CrossMax, but a good bit cheaper and a damn sight more repairable... The quality of components and finishing was second to none"

"Al especially liked the rims. The first jig checked showed them to be impressively straight and they were still that way at the last check"

VTT magazine:

Feb. '99

maximum MOUNTAINBIKE:

"at only 1.520kg for the set (thanks to an ultra-light rear freehub) you will be hard pressed to build a lighter set - especially for the £400"
